The Stairs Problem


How many steps will he run on the super stairs? How long will it take him to run them?

  1. We think we need the following information in order to solve this problem:
    -How long it took him (in seconds) to run up the normal stairs
    -How many steps there are on the stairs
    -What will we use to work out how long it took (for example: timer or stopwatch, paper/pencil)

  3. I reckon the answer is 470 seconds, because there is 21 steps and each time he goes up another step it takes another second. Then I counted from 2 to however long it took to get to 21 numbers and added them all together, and then doubled it to get 470 seconds.

    2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12+13+14+15+16+17+18+19+19+20 (this is 21numbers in total)...

    Added them together = 235... multiply this by 2 = 470 seconds in total
